West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today slammed the BJP government for slashing funds for Central schemes in West Bengal.
Earlier our fight was against CPI(M). Now we are fighting against the policies of the Centre. We are fighting against Centre’s decision to slash funds for Central schemes.

She also stressed on her intention to spread the protest from West Bengal to the national capital.
The CM, known as ‘Didi’, addressed a huge rally in Kolkata on the occasion of ‘Martyr’s Day’ observed by her party to commemorate the death of 13 Youth Congress workers in police firing in 1993.
The party members held up a life-sized poster of Mamata Banerjee during the rally.
She stressed on the strength of TMC and made her intent of protesting against the ruling party clear by stating that her party members will die but not bend.
They who themselves indulge in corruption and communalism should not try to give us advice on corruption. TMC will never bow its heads before BJP.

She also mocked the ‘Swachh Bharat’ and ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ schemes of the Centre and compared them to West Bengal parallels of the schemes.
Nadia was the first ODF (open defecation free) district in the country. Lakhs of girls in Bengal have benefitted from the schemes for which Rs 1000 crore is being spent.
