The special NIA court in Mumbai on Wednesday, 5 September, said it will hear the objections about validity of sanctions for prosecution against the accused, including Lieutenant Colonel Shrikant Prasad Purohit, in the 2008 Malegaon blast case.

The court will only frame charges after hearing the accused on point of sanction under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act from 10 September.

The accused, including, Purohit who is out on bail, had raised objections to the validity of sanction of prosecution against them.

The Court is inclined to complete the hearing and issue the order in 15 days.

Purohit is the main accused in the Malegaon blast, which killed six persons in the Muslim-dominated powerloom town in Nashik district on 29 September, 2008.
