Days after the constable recruits in Madhya Pradesh were stamped with their castes on their chests, another bizzare episode has emerged from the state’s Bhind district, where male and female candidates appearing for police jobs underwent medical examinations in the same room.
A video of the incident shows that the male candidates are made to strip down to their undergarments for a regular height and weight check-up, while the female candidate is also made to undergo tests in the same room.
Taking cognisance of the incident, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said:
We are taking this very seriously, strictest action will be taken against those found responsible. A probe is underway.
An NDTV report further alleged that no women doctors or nurses were available during this examination.
Speaking to the channel, the civil surgeon of Bhind, Ajit Mishra said:
We have issued warning letters to all the team members of the examination committee. We have also ordered an enquiry, and whoever is responsible, will be punished.
Speaking about the perceived absence of nurses and women doctors, Mishra alleged that since three doctors were on leave, a woman doctor and a nurse have now been deputed for the task.
The examination was reportedly taking place at Bhind’s largest government clinic.
Quoting sources, the channel further reported that a total of 217 candidates had appeared for the examination, of which 18 males and 21 females underwent tests on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, two police personnel were suspended in relation to the Dhar incident, where constable recruits were branded with their caste on their chests. This development comes after state home minister Bhupendra Singh has also ordered a probe in to the incident.
