The Madras High Court has refused to interfere with an order from the education department asking actor Rajinikanth, his wife Latha and principal of a school run by them to appear before the authorities with school’s land lease.

Justice MM Suresh said that instead of seeking help from the court, the Ashram Matriculation Higher Secondary School principal could have asked help from the officials. He refused to stay the notice issued by the joint director of matriculation schools.

The judge asked the education department to set another date for hearing. A final order in this matter should be passed within four weeks.

The school recognised in 1996 was in trouble when the education department passed an order stating that a lease deed for at least 30 years was up for renewal. Later, the land owner moved to court demanding eviction of the school from the premises, according to TOI.

The education department has called the trio for an inquiry on 25 January 2016. The principal of the school filed a writ petition asking exemption from personal appearance. The writ petition stated that the school was in existence from 1996 and the new rule came in 2011. All the relevant documents were submitted and the school’s renewal application was in process but till date the recognition was o be given from 2011,TOI reported.
