Three members of a Dalit family were killed and two others were injured after being shot at in Madhya Pradesh's Devra.
This came after a confrontation between two families, the Patels and the Ahirwals. It has been alleged that members of the Patel family opened fire on the Ahirwals, killing three of them.
The deceased persons include Ghandi Ahirbar (60), Manak Lal Ahirwar (30), and Rajpyari (58).
Meanwhile, the police have begun their investigation in the case.
"We received a message that three people of a family have been killed and two people have also been injured. Police is investigating this incident completely. If there is any land-related issue or any old issue, the police will take cognizance of it," Damoh Collector S Krishna said.
"Strict action has been taken as per the rules. Whatever benefit is received from the administration will be given to the family as soon as the FIR is registered under the SC/ST Act," he added.
Superintendent of Police DR Teniwar had reached the spot of the incident with several police personnel to investigate the matter. Police forces have also been deployed throughout the village to maintain law and order.
"There was a dispute between two families this morning. Some of them were women-related issues, the rest will be clear upon investigation. Three people died on the spot in the dispute. An FIR is being registered under SC/ST Act. Police teams have been sent to trace the accused. Action will be taken as per rules," Damoh SP DR Teniwar said.
