Security Forces Take Terrorist's Wife's Help to Ask him to Surrender
The security forces took the help of the wife of slain terrorist, Safiq Shergujri's, to convince him to surrender. She was assured by security forces that her husband will not be harmed if he surrenders, ANI reported.
Despite these efforts he continued to fire and was killed.
Soldier Killed in Pakistan Ceasefire Violation in Poonch
An Indian soldier was killed on Thursday on the Line of Control (LoC) in a ceasefire violation by Pakistan in Poonch district.
Army sources told IANS in winter capital Jammu: "Pakistan army resorted to unprovoked ceasefire violation in Krishna Ghati (KG) sector of the LoC in Poonch district on Thursday.
"An army soldier was killed in Pakistan firing on the LoC. The Indian Army has effectively retaliated Pakistan firing."
Militant Killed, Major Injured in Kashmir Shootout
In a separate encounter, a militant was killed and an army officer injured in a shootout in Jammu and Kashmir's Bandipora district on Thursday, police said.
"Following information about a militant travelling in a vehicle in Bandipora town, security forces set up a checkpost outside the Bandipora police station. During the checking operation, the militant travelling in a vehicle fired at the checking party, resulting in injuries to a major.
"In the retaliatory firing, the militant, identified as Mushtaq Peer of Hizbul Mujahideen, was killed," a police officer said.
Civilian Dies in Clashes Between Villagers and Security Forces, Two Injured
A civilian, identified as Aamir Nazir, died after clashes broke out between villagers and security forces in Awantipora, even as the encounter proceeded, reports said. Two other civilians were injured.
