The Union Law Ministry is reportedly going to launch its own TV channel where discussions on social issues like triple talk and uniform civil code will be held, Times of India reported.

The Law Ministry has written to the Human Resource Development (HRD) Ministry seeking rights to this channel.

The HRD Ministry launched 32 channels available in a DTH service called Swayam Prabha to broadcast educational programmes.

According to TOI, the ministry is planning to hire Prakash Jha, a prominent Bollywood director who has made films like Gangajal and Rajneeti, to make legal shows.

The ministry also launched a competition for freelancing film-makers and law school students with a cash prize of Rs 20,000- Rs 50,000, TOI reported.

The channel will run for a few hours in the initial days after its launch. Later, it will run 24/7 regularly.
