1. Senior Citizen ‘Molests Doctor’, Commits Suicide
Hours after a man allegedly attacked a 35-year-old doctor in Goregaon, he reportedly committed suicide by jumping from the second floor of Inorbit Mall in Malad on Sunday, 5 August. Police said a case of molestation and attempt to murder has been registered against the man. But they will file an abatement report, indicating closure of the case.
On Sunday morning, around 8:30 am, the man reportedly barged into the doctor’s house and attacked her.
“He allegedly molested her and attacked her with a hammer. He made her write a letter promising not to complain to the police and that he was not responsible for her head injury,” said an officer.
The woman contacted the man’s wife and Goregaon police. “Around 12:30 pm, when she was being treated at a hospital, we were told a man has jumped to his death,” said an officer. He was later identified as the attacker.

2. Woman Shot by Stalker
A 30-year-old man was arrested on Sunday morning for allegedly shooting at a 24-year-old chartered accountant, at her residence in northwest Delhi’s Ashok Vihar. The accused, identified as Harish Kumar, was arrested with the help of CCTV footage, said police.
According to police, Kumar had been stalking the victim for the last five years, and was upset that she had got engaged to another man.
A PCR call was made and the woman was taken to a hospital, where she is currently recuperating. She is out of danger, said a senior police officer.

3. Headless Body of Man Found Near Khalsa College
The body of an unidentified man — head and arms missing — was found stuffed in a black plastic bag near the Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Khalsa college bus stop in Delhi University’s North Campus on Sunday morning, according to the police.
A case of murder has been registered but the police are yet to find any clues about the identity of the victim.
The bag was spotted by a passerby at around 8 am, according to deputy commissioner of police (North) Nupur Prasad. The man informed the police control room, and when investigators reached the spot, they could see blood oozing out of the bag.
Prasad said police stations in Delhi and adjoining states have been informed about the recovery of the body and all available details and photographs have been uploaded on the unidentified bodies list on the zonal integrated police network website.

4. Two Kids Found Dead in Pool
The bodies of two boys, who went missing on Saturday, were found in an abandoned pool near Ghodi Bachheda village in Greater Noida, Sunday morning. The pool is on an abandoned plot of land belonging to the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority, where the boys — Sonu Singh and Aryan, both aged 11 — had gone to graze cattle.
A GNIDA official said, “The land had been allotted to Unitech to develop a group housing project. They had built the pool as part of the project’s infrastructure. However, around two years ago, their allotment was suspended as they defaulted on payments to the authority. It has not been re-allotted to another party yet.”
“The bodies have been sent for post-mortem. Charges are being pressed against both Unitech and GNIDA for causing death by negligence,” said CO (Dadri) Nishank Sharma.

5. Child Porn on WhatsApp: Invite to Join Through FB
The Thane rural police investigating a case of child pornography, discovered on Sunday, 6 August, that the invite to join the WhatsApp group in which the pornographic content had been uploaded was shared through a closed Facebook group.
The WhatsApp group, ‘BB Badboys’ had 217 members from across the world and two administrators. While one of the administrators, a Bhayander-based college student, has been arrested, the police are looking for the other administrator who is based in Tamil Nadu.
So far, the police have arrested seven people, including three college students and a Nashik resident under Section 67(b) (punishment for publishing or transmitting material depicting children in sexually explicit act in an electronic form) of the Information Technology Act.

6. Suspecting Infidelity, Drunk Man Burns Wife to Death
A 28-year-old woman, who was set on fire allegedly by her husband in Warangal district of Telangana following an argument over "her fidelity", died on Sunday, 5 August, the police said.
The accused Balu allegedly lit her outside their house in Parwarvathagiri mandal of the district late last night after an argument in an "inebriated" condition and he also suffered burn injuries in the process, they said.
The woman died at a hospital this morning, they added.
The deceased woman's mother lodged a complaint with the police alleging that her son-in-law used to harass her daughter frequently in a drunken state.
The complainant also accused the man of having an "illegal" affair with another woman, police added.

7. Private Detective Held for Duping Mumbai Builder
A private detective and his accomplice were arrested by the Mumbai Police Crime Branch for allegedly blackmailing a south Mumbai-based businessman.
The duo had claimed to have obtained Call Detail Records (CDRs) of the businessman and threatened to tell his wife about his alleged extra-marital affair unless he paid them Rs 2.5 crore, said police.
The detective, Shailesh Manjrekar, was arrested by the Anti-Extortion Cell of the Crime Branch on Saturday after the businessman registered a complaint with the police. His accomplice, Imtiyaz Pothiawala, alias Mannu (51), a resident of Agripada, was picked up the police on Friday.

8. NIA Arrests 2 in Bodh Gaya Blast Case
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested two West Bengal residents in Kerala for allegedly planting three improvised explosive devices (IEDs) at the Mahabodhi temple in Bodh Gaya this January, when the Dalai Lama was visiting the Buddhist shrine, officials familiar with the development said.
NIA officials said the initial interrogation of the two suggested that they belonged to Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), a terrorist outfit active in the border areas of India and Bangladesh. Investigators said the IEDs had been planted as revenge for alleged atrocities committed against Rohingyas in Myanmar.
The role of few Bangladeshi nationals is also suspected in the case and the agency is looking for them, the NIA officials added.

9. Chandigarh Youth Held for Duping Aspiring Models
The Mumbai Police has arrested a 26-year-old fashion photographer from Chandigarh for allegedly duping several aspiring models under the pretext of finding them work abroad.
According to investigators, the accused used social media as a platform to advertise his services and allegedly duped aspiring female models from Delhi, Jalandhar, Mohali and Navi Mumbai.
“The accused would claim to give aspiring models an opportunity to shoot abroad,” said an officer. He would then demand large amounts of money in return.
As part of the investigation, police officers started scrutinising the call data record of the accused, and learnt that he had purchased several SIM cards from Nepal and had been using them to dupe aspiring models.
The accused has been remanded to police custody.
