1. Four Persons Convicted of Man’s Murder

A Delhi court on Friday convicted four persons of the murder of a man, who had died of septicaemia from a stab injury. The case dates back to July 30, 2013, when Vishal (single name), 18, was attacked by four members of a family from his neighbourhood and stabbed near his house in Delhi’s Nangloi.

The same night, prior to the incident, Vishal’s family had confronted the family of the main accused, Abdul, for ‘defaming’ his sister. According to the case papers, in 2011, Vishal’s sister had married a man of her choice and Abdul’s relative, Juned, used to call her names.

Following the confrontation, the accused family started beating Vishal’s family and then returned to his house, dragging Vishal to the Sabji Mandi in the alley, outside their house. Abdul with the help of relatives Juned, Jamil and Ashfaq, stabbed Vishal in the abdomen.

2. Delhi: 11-Year-Old Found Dead at Neighbour’s House, Probe On

An 11-year-old boy was found dead under mysterious circumstances in his neighbour’s house in central Delhi’s Rajinder Nagar Friday. While the boy’s family has alleged murder, police suspect the boy may have committed suicide or hanged himself accidentally while playing.

“Prima facie, it seems the boy committed suicide. The post-mortem will shed more light,” said DCP (central) Mandeep Singh Randhawa. Police have initiated inquest proceedings into the matter and have already questioned the boy’s family and neighbours.

On Friday afternoon, the boy did not return home from school, following which his parents began searching for him. The boy’s mother later got a phone call from a neighbour, who informed her that her son is ill.
