1. Dalit Youth Stripped, Flogged After Altercation With Restaurant Owner
A Dalit youth was allegedly stripped and flogged and another assaulted by a group of men at a roadside eatery in Sabarmati Toll Naka area of Ahmedabad on Sunday night, 3 October. A purported video of the incident that emerged Monday was reminiscent of the Una flogging incident in 2016, which had rocked Gujarat politics.
In the video, a youth is seen being stripped and beaten with sticks. He has been admitted in Ahmedabad’s Civil Hospital, and is reportedly in critical condition. The other youth, who had sustained injuries, was not hospitalised.
According to the police, the incident occurred around 7.30 pm on Sunday when two Dalit youth, Pragnesh Parmar and Jayesh, arrived at the restaurant.

2. Demolition of Houses: Section 144 in Daman After Residents Protest
A bandh-like situation prevailed in Daman on Monday, 4 November a day after people came out on the streets to protest the demolition of their homes on 1 November by the administration of the Union territory of Daman and Collector Rakesh Minhas imposed prohibitory orders.
Government schools that were closed for Diwali vacations were turned into temporary detention centres by two successive notifications by the Collector. The collector refused to meet a group of people, including six BJP councillors of the Daman Municipal Corporation, who had come to make representations on the issue.
On 1 November, the Daman district administration razed around 90 houses that were illegally constructed on government land on the stretch between Lighthouse road and Jampore beach in Daman. A majority of the residents are fishermen.

3. BJP Councillor Booked for ‘Firing’ During Procession in Talala

Amit Unadkat, sitting BJP councillor of Talala municipality in Gir Somnath district has been booked under the Arms Act and for endangering life or safety of other people after he allegedly fired his revolver in celebration during a religious procession in the town on Sunday, 3 November.
However, the BJP leader claimed that he had fired a starter gun and not his revolver. “I had fired a starter and not my revolver. The starter looks exactly like the revolver but it creates only noise and releases smoke when fired,” the BJP leader told The Indian Express.
Talala police launched an FIR against Unadkat late on Sunday night.

4. Cyclone Maha Set to Ruin India's T20i Match Against B'desh in Rajkot
India and Bangladesh played under "hazardous" air-pollution levels in Delhi on Sunday and there's now a real chance that the second T20I match may get cancelled due to a cyclone alert in Rajkot on Thursday, 7 November.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) reports, Cyclone Maha is expected to hit Gujarat on November 6 and cause "heavy or very heavy rains" in the state on the day of the match, 7November.
However, there's still a chance that the cyclone "will very likely to intensify further till 5th November morning and weaken gradually thereafter", according to the IMD reports.
"Severe cyclonic storm Maha lay centered at 580 kilometres southwest of Diu and 550 kms southwest of Veraval," IMD director Jayanta Sarkar told PTI.

5. Guj Sets 30,000 MW Renewable Energy Generation Target by 2022
Gujarat government has set a target of 30,000 MW of renewable energy generation by 2022 from the current 9,670 MW.
"Gujarat will have over 30,000 MW of renewable energy by 2022, the roadmap for which has been finalised," state's chief secretary J N Singh told reporters here on Monday, 4 November.
At present, the state has a total of 9,670 MW production of renewable energy which includes 6,880 MW wind energy and 2,654 MW solar energy.
The Gujarat state has also overtaken front runner Maharashtra in the industrial production.
Gujarat has overtaken Maharashtra as its contribution in the country in industrial production increases 16.81 per cent compared to 14.21 per cent of latter, he said.
