1. Livestock Export: Ban Discriminatory, Violated Fundamental Right of Exporters, Says Gujarat HC

In its order, quashing the Gujarat government’s notification banning livestock export from Tuna port, the Gujarat High Court called the decision “grossly illegal, unconstitutional and violative of the fundamental rights of the petitioners”.

On 1 April, the High Court has set aside the state government’s 14 December, 2018 notification that had prohibited movement of cattle into the drought-affected areas from outside.

2. Man Tries to Rape Wife, Beats Her

A 37-year-old woman scientist with the National Innovation Foundation (NIF) of the department of science and technology, on Wednesday, 10 April, filed a complaint with Chandkheda police alleging that her husband tried to rape her and when she thwarted his attempts, he kicked on her private parts and stomach, at their home on New CG Road in Chandkheda on Monday.

In the Jayanti Bhanushali murder case, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) has arrested one more accused, identified as Jayanti Thakkar, BJP leader from Abdasa.

4. HC Issues Notice to AMC Over Plot Allotted to School

The Gujarat high court on Thursday, 11 April, issued notice to the Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA), Nirma Education and Research Foundation and various other authorities over a PIL objecting to allotment of a plot meant for public utility to the school at 30 percent concessional rate.

5. Seven, Including Two Cops, Stab Jasdan Man to Death

Seven persons including two cops were booked for allegedly stabbing a 22-year-old man to death and injuring his friend following a trivial altercation at Indira Circle on 150-feet Ring Road in Rajkot on Wednesday night.

The deceased was identified as Kuldeep Khawad, a resident of Polarpar Road in Jasdan of Rajkot district. Khawad had come to Rajkot along with his friend Abhilav Khachar, who was scheduled to appear before a court in a murder case.
