The National Investigative Agency (NIA), with the assistance of Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), arrested suspected Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist Shaikh Abdul Nayeem alias Nomi, in Lucknow on 28 November, Tuesday.
Nayeem, 37, resident of Aurangabad Maharashtra was nabbed from Charbagh Bus Stand with some incriminating documents, mobile phone and bank account details, according to an official statement.
Special NIA Court in Delhi sentenced Nayeem to 10 days remand.
Nayeem, who is also an accused in the Aurangabad Arms haul case, had been earlier arrested by the West Bengal Police in 2007 while he was infiltrating into India from Bangladesh along with two Pakistani nationals and one Kashmiri. He escaped from judicial custody in Chhattisgarh while he was being taken to Mumbai for production in the MCOCA Court in 2014.
The accused has allegedly been associated with LeT terrorist Amzad who is based in Pakistan and received funds from terror operatives based in UAE. He also did reconnaissance of several locations in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh for planning terror attacks.
