Five friends from different states, who went through the rigours of examination preparation together in Kota, have cracked the AIIMS-Delhi entrance test.
The friends are Nishita Purohit (1st rank), Harsh Agarwal (5th), Rishab Raj (6th), Harshit Anand (7th) and Abhishek Dogra (9th), who secured ranks in the top 10 list of the coveted All India Institute of Medical Sciences MBBS entrance examination this year.
According to a Times of India report, Nishita hails from Gujarat, Harsh and Harshit are from West Bengal, Rishab is from Bihar and Abhishek belongs to Maharashtra. Exactly two years ago, the friends met in Kota at the Allen Career Institute, where they had all gone to prepare for the medical entrance examination.
Among the top ten to crack the test were also Archit Gupta (2nd), Tamoghna Ghosh (3rd), Nipun Chandra (4th). After the results were announced on Thursday, the friends reportedly attributed their success to “healthy competition” among themselves and encouragement from each other.
In all her interviews, Nishita has highlighted the importance of preparing for examinations with the best students. The topper told TOI:
The display of competence by friends or batchmates in every class acted as motivation to perform better than them.
Interestingly, while Harsh, Rishab and Harshit would reportedly score similar marks in most of their tests, they also ranked in a sequence - fifth, sixth, and seventh respectively.
Rishab Raj told TOI:
Ranks don’t matter, what matters is many more fun-filled days with old buddies. Our club was not restricted to seeing who solved a puzzle first but always built our confidence when we had scored beneath our expectations in tests.
The teachers of these five friends allegedly told them that never before had five friends qualified for AIIMS together. The other five students to top the AIIMS test are also from the same coaching centre in Kota.
Also, it is almost after a decade since a girl has aced the AIIMS examination, said Nishita to TOI. Purohit, who wants to be a cardiac surgeon, is expecting to do well in the National Eligibility and Entrance Test (NEET).
