There was a slight agitation in Kolkata on Sunday which resulted in traffic congestion and commuters faced issue as major roads of North and Central Kolkata could not be accessed on Monday afternoon.

This happened after Sealdah Station GRP (Government Railway Police) intercepted 62 children and a cleric, who were travelling without a valid document to Maharashtra.

As per police, the children were travelling from a madrasa in Bihar to another madrasa in Maharashtra. After they were intercepted, they were shifted to the State-run Child Welfare Commission’s home in Barasat. Efforts are also been made to contact the parents of these children.

The demonstration took place at Rajabazar, Park Circus seven-point crossing, Moulali and Sealdah. Railway tracks were blocked delaying train services which were south-bound.

It was a grim situation which became worse as the day passed but police claims to have taken control of the situation.
