Two Sleeping Children Die in a Gas Explosion in Kerala Home

The gas explosion killing two children in their sleep occurred at Malaka near Wadakkanchery in Thrissur, Kerala.

In a tragic incident, two children died in a gas explosion in their house at Malaka near Thekkumkara Panchayath of Wadakkanchery in Thrissur district. The children, aged two and six years old, were sleeping in their bedroom when the explosion happened at 10:30 pm on Thursday, 6 December.

Though the exact cause of the explosion is yet to be confirmed, it is suspected that either an inverter kept in the room, or a gas cylinder in the house, could have exploded.

Danphelix (six) and Selesmia (two), the children of Danters (45) and Bindu (35), suffered severe burn injuries and passed away. Danters and Bindu tried to rescue the children, but were unable to. The couple is currently in a private hospital in Ernakulam for burn injuries. The couple has an another child, 12-year-old Selensia, who has also sustained burns. The police said that the child did not sustain serious injuries.

According to the police, the children suffered severely in the accident.

“A team of forensic experts have reached the spot and are analysing the situation. The exact reason for the explosion can be found out once the examination is over. A police team has arrived in Kochi to record the statement of Danters and Bindu.’’
