A case has been registered against Amit Jani, the leader of UP Navnirman Sena, for allegedly spreading communal hatred after hoardings asking Kashmiris to leave Uttar Pradesh or face consequences have been reportedly spotted in Meerut.

Police said that the group admitted to putting up the hoardings. They have been asked to pull them down or face action.

Amit Jani, earlier on Wednesday shared a picture of the poster on his Facebook account.

Speaking to CNN-News18, Jani said that the posters are aimed only at the radical elements in Kashmir.

He said that his move was being lauded by Kashmiri Brahmins. The outfit is aimed at boycotting Kashmiris, Jani said, adding that the Navnirman Sena will work on spreading awareness about this issue.

Incidentally, in April 2016, Amit Jani had claimed that a country-made pistol found in a Delhi Corporation bus at the Jawaharlal Nehru University campus was meant to kill Asaduddin Owaisi, leader of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen, reported The Wire.

The weapon in question was accompanied by a letter threatening to kill Kanhaiya Kumar and Umar Khalid – the JNU students who were hurled into limelight earlier in 2016 on charges of sedition and harbouring ‘anti-national’ sentiments.

The Wire’s report also pointed out that Jani had earlier been booked for vandalising statues of Mayawati in Uttar Pradesh. He also attacked offices of the Shiv Sena in the state and had threatened to attack Kumar and Khalid for allegedly having called the army ‘rapists’.

Jani further claimed that he had been watching Owaisi’s residence and stressed that he wanted to “instil fear” in the hearts of those who raised anti-national slogans.
