Kamala Mills Fire: TV9 Office Gutted, Times Group Staff Safe

The fire broke out in the wee hours of 29 December, and spread across the Kamala Mills compound

At least 14 people died and 12 were injured as a massive fire broke out at the Kamala Mills compound in Mumbai's Lower Parel locality, in the early hours of Friday, 29 December.

All the injured have reportedly been rushed to KEM hospital. According to reports, the fire started at MOJO Pub & Bistro located in the compound.

The Kamala Mills compound is also the location of Times Now, Mirror Now, ET, TV9 Marathi, and Zoom TV’s offices in Mumbai.

TV9 Marathi’s Office Gutted

TV9 Marathi shared a photo of their office in Kamala Mills, which was gutted by the fire.

Perhaps coming a little too soon, TV9 Marathi, which is in the same building complex, put out this pun-tastic tweet about the fire, assuring viewers that they would continue their coverage despite the blow.

The TV9 Twitter handle continued posting live updates through the night.

Times Group Assures Staff are Safe

Times Now Senior Editor Anand Narasimhan posted a tweet that said smoke from the fire had entered the Times Now office.

Times Now released this statement on the afternoon of 29 November after the fire, expressing their condolences, while assuring that all their employees were safe, and that the network would be back on air soon.

Mirror Now Editor Faye D’Souza posted this tweet at 3.11 am, in response to a concerned tweet, that all the staff of the Times Group in their offices at Mumbai’s Kamala Mills were safe from the fire.

Her next tweet, at 3.14 am said that the fire had impacted transmission of all channels under the Times group which operated out of Kamala Mills.
