On Monday, 15 April, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) told special judge Arvind Kumar that 36 businessmen, among them Vijay Mallya and Nirav Modi, had fled India in the recent past.
The admission by the ED came while opposing the bail plea of Sushen Mohan Gupta, an alleged defence agent arrested in the AgustaWestland VVIP choppers scam. The ED said that there was a possibility of him fleeing the country like 36 businessmen before him.
