Karnataka Soldier Dead in Ceasefire Violation Along LoC in Poonch

A soldier was killed as Pakistan violated ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district in the intervening night of 7-8 November, an Army official said.

In the ensuing exchange of fire, Sepoy Rahul Bhairu Sulagekar, 21, sustained gunshot wounds and was evacuated to the nearest Medical Aid Centre wherein he was provided medical aid and resuscitation. However, he succumbed to his injuries was martyred on 8 November.

Pakistan fired at forward posts along the LoC around 2:30 am in Krishnaghati sector in Poonch, in which the Army personnel was killed, the official said. The ceasefire violation was accompanied by suspicious movement of Pakistan Army-abetted terrorists, said an official statement, following which Indian troops engaged the terrorists and Pakistani troops effectively.

Sepoy Sulagekar belonged to Uchagaon village in Belagavi district in north Karnataka and is survived by his mother.
