The 2016 Budget session starting Tuesday is predicted to be fiery since it comes in the midst of two large agitations in the country – the Jawaharlal Nehru University sedition row and the Jat agitation.
According to Hindustan Times, these two are bound to serve as ammunition for the opposition against the BJP-led government.
Two all-party meetings were convened on Monday, one by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu and the other by Speaker of Lok Sabha Sumitra Mahajan.
Sitaram Yechury of Communist Party of India (Marxist) attacked the meetings by comparing the caste-based protests in Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Haryana to Nazi leader Adolf Hitler’s regime.
The matter of Hyderabad Central University scholar Rohith Vemula’s death could also possibly be brought up.
However, Naidu held ground by reiterating that the government remained ‘ever-willing’ to discuss issues.
We want a detailed discussion on JNU. People should know what really happened there, the cause and the consequences of the act.Venkaiah Naidu, Parliamentary Affairs Minister
