After Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised his government over the removal of Jammu and Kashmir's special status at the ‘Howdy, Modi’ event in Houston, Texas, former J&K Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti's daughter Iltija Mufti said it was ironic that a move for the interest of the Valley is being cheered everywhere except in Kashmir.
Iltija, who is using her mother’s Twitter account, said that it’s “ironic that move ostensibly taken to secure “special interests” of J&K gets cheered on everywhere except in the state that’s it meant to benefit.”
The tweet also said that 'mass hysteria' has been orchestrated elsewhere to justify the decision, while the people of Kashmir are 'gagged.'
Mufti's comments came after PM Modi drew loud cheers from the crowd at the NRG stadium in Houston when he said that the new government has bid farewell to one of the biggest challenges India has faced for the past 70 years, referring to the removal of Article 370.
