Summer is the holiday season when most of us plan a vacation with our family and friends. But the single most difficult thing for the vacation is to book travel tickets because it is the peak traveling season and people generally get the bookings done in advance. Due to the unavailability of seats in fast and super fast trains, the Indian Railways has introduced 78 special summer trains to cater to passengers in the summer holiday season.
A senior officer from Indian Railways told IANS, “To cater to the extra rush, we have started 78 special trains from 1 April," he further added that sometimes the trains run 5-6 hours late but they are trying to make these summer special trains run on time.
During summer, it’s difficult to book a railway ticket unless your vacations are planned well in advance. In such situations, Tatkal booking comes in handy. The Tatkal booking opens 24 hours before the departure of the train. One thing to keep in mind here is the cancellation of a confirmed Tatkal ticket is non-refundable. To book a Tatkal ticket online you have to book one day in advance, minus the date of journey from the train’s originating station.
You can find details of the special trains on the IRCTC website.
