India is expected to witness a normal monsoon in 2019, said Skymet, India's only weather forecasting agency, on Monday, 25 February.

The forecasting agency said there is over 50 percent chance that India will get normal rainfall, with a small possibility of excessive rainfall.

This will increase the farm and economic growth of the country.

According to a report by Reuters, average, or normal rainfall between 96 percent and 104 percent of 89 cm for the entire four-month season beginning June is considered normal.

The monsoon season delivers about 70 percent of India's annual rainfall and is key to the success of the farm sector in Asia's third-biggest economy. In 2018, India received 91 percent of rainfall during the season.
