1. Ghaziabad Rape: Police Gets Test Report of Juvenile Accused

Delhi Police Crime Branch has received the bone density test report of a juvenile who was apprehended in connection with the alleged rape of a 10-year-old girl inside a madrasa in Ghaziabad, a senior police officer said on Monday, 30 April.

The officer said the report of the bone density test conducted to ascertain whether the accused juvenile is actually a minor will be submitted to the Juvenile Justice Board. Earlier this week, the police had also arrested Ghulam Shahid, the madrasa cleric, for allegedly being aware of the crime committed on the the madrasa premises.

The girl was rescued on 22 April from the madrasa by a Delhi Police team. The police were informed on 21 April by the girl's father that his daughter had gone missing after she went to the market.

2. Pregnant Relative of Panchayat Poll Candidate Raped in West Bengal

A pregnant relative of a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate in the upcoming panchayat polls was allegedly raped in West Bengal's Nadia district, police said on Monday, 30 April.

The BJP pointed fingers at the Trinamool Congress (TMC), alleging that the goons of the ruling party had committed the crime to teach a lesson to the opposition candidates for daring to contest the 14 May polls. The TMC dismissed the allegation as baseless.

The incident occurred in Shantipur of Nadia district last night. The sister-in-law of the victim is contesting the gram panchayat polls on a BJP ticket.

According to the family members of the victim, the goons of the ruling party were threatening them to withdraw the nomination for the last few days.

"Last night, the TMC goons broke into our house and beat us up brutally. When we tried to resist them, they dragged my sister-in-law, who is six months' pregnant, away and raped her," one of the family members said.

The victim was taken to a local hospital and subsequently, referred to a hospital in Kolkata, where she is battling for life, the family member added.

3. Minor Abducted, Raped by Facebook Friend in Kota

A Kota schoolgirl was abducted, confined to a room and raped for four days by a man who had befriended her on Facebook and his accomplice.

The two men were arrested and produced before a fast track court which sent them to judicial custody till 15 May. The police said the 16-year-old victim was a Class 11 student in a private school.

The SI at RK Puram police station, Pratap Rao, said the key accused, Pankaj, a BA first year student, had befriended the girl on Facebook earlier this month and used to talk to her on the phone.

She was going to school on 24 April when he met her on the way and offered to take her on a scooter ride. The police said after a spin around the city, he took her to a room that had been arranged for by his friend, Dinesh. Pankaj kept the girl confined to the room where she was raped for four days, the police said.

4. Five Arrested in Yavatmal for Betting on IPL Matches

Five people were arrested in Maharashtra’s Yavatmal for allegedly accepting and laying bets on an Indian Premier League game.

Assistant Inspector Santosh Manwar of Yavatmal police's Crime Branch said that, based on a tip-off, they raided a house in the weekly market area of Pandharkawda locality here yesterday night.

"During the raid, we found the five accused comprising the racket operator, his partner and three punters, accepting and laying bets on the IPL game between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore," Manwar said.

He said that police seized 10 mobile recorders and receivers, 14 mobile phones, a laptop and television, calculators, ledgers and Rs 8,110 in cash.

5. Delhi Cash Van Robbery: Case Transferred to Crime Branch

The Delhi Police's Crime Branch is probing the Rs 12 lakh robbery of a cash collection van in Rohini last week, in which the two custodians of the van were shot dead by unidentified assailants.

The case, related to the 26 April incident, was transferred from the district police to the Crime Branch for a thorough probe, they added. Police said the Crime Branch is looking at whether Haryana-based criminals are behind the robbery-cum-killing as it happened close to the Haryana border.

"At the moment, we are studying the modus operandi of the accused and the probable escape routes. There have been similar incidents in the neighbouring areas and we are probing whether there are any linkages among them, " said an officer privy to the probe.

6. Madras HC Cancels Bail to Advocate in Surgeon Murder Case

The Madras High Court has cancelled the bail granted to an advocate, accused in the murder of a city-based neuro surgeon over a property dispute in 2013.

Doctor Subbaiah was brutally attacked by contract killers with sickles in Raja Annamalaipuram locality in Chennai and succumbed to multiple injuries on 23 September 2013.

A chargesheet was filed against 10 accused, including Williams. It further submitted that accused also threatened the witnesses with dire consequences, if they deposed against them.

7. Jewellery Robbed From Trinamool MP's Official Residence

A group of two to three unknown robbers broke into the official residence of Trinamool Congress MP Satabdi Roy and fled with jewellery worth lakhs of rupees, police said on Monday, 30 April.

Police said the incident occurred on Sunday night when Roy's official residence in Pandara Road in the heart of Delhi was locked from outside and no employee were there.

"During investigation, it was found that the caretaker and his wife who stay in the bungalow for its security, had gone to Haridwar after locking the house," said a senior police officer.

8. No Arrest yet in Case of Murderous Attack on Delhi Doctor

A day after the murderous attack on a doctor at a south Delhi farmhouse, the police was still to make any arrest on 30 April even as it said five teams have been set up to crack the case.

Police also said that a close watch was being kept on private hospitals and clinics in a bid to trace the attackers, since victim Dr Hans Nagar had claimed to have injured two of his four attackers in retaliatory firing in the early hours of Sunday.

Hans Nagar had reached near the entrance to his farmhouse in Fatehpuri Beri from his clinic in south Delhi's Siri Fort area around 1.50 am on Sunday when the unidentified attackers riding two motorcycles stopped nearby and fired more than a dozen rounds at him.

Nagar – who received four gunshot wounds – told police that he suspected his brothers John and Ron and four others were behind the attack due to a longstanding dispute over Gurugram property.

9. 3 Guards Arrested for Raping Minor in Goa

Police have arrested three security guards in South Goa district for raping a 6-year-old girl, police said on Sunday, 29 April.

The girl, daughter of a construction worker in Canacona village, 70 km from here, was raped on three different occasions over four months, said Rajendra Prabhudessai, Police Inspector in-charge of the Canacona Police Station.

"Manoj Kumar, 20, of Madhya Pradesh, Jaidip Ree, 24, and Ravi Ree, 25, from Assam, who worked as security guards at the construction site where the victim's father was employed, have been arrested," Prabhudessai told reporters.

According to the official, the accused used to lure the victim on the pretext of offering her sweets. The accused were arrested on Saturday and remanded to police custody by a magistrate on Sunday.
