1. Official Accused of Asking Sexual Favours for Constructing Toilet

A 32-year-old woman in Chhattisgarh's Raigarh district has accused a civic body official of seeking sexual favours to allow the construction of a toilet in her house under the ‘Clean India' mission.

Police said that a case had been registered against IP Sarathi, Sub-Engineer of Raigarh Municipal Corporation, at Jutmil police station last night on the basis of the woman's complaint.

Sarathi has been charged under Section 509(b) (gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) but has not been arrested as yet, said a police official.

2. India Shamed Again as Goons Attack French Tourists in UP

In yet another incident of its kind, a group of foreign tourists were attacked in Ahraura area of Mirzapur in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday by a group of local boys, reported ANI. The women in the group of 11 were allegedly molested.

The Uttar Pradesh police has arrested four local boys in this regard. All the 11 tourists were French natives. The injured tourists were shifted to the Mirzapur hospital for further treatment.

"We were going back suddenly some people came and started insulting us. These people start attacking us with sticks. One of my friend is badly injured," one of the injured tourists said.

3. Noida Teen Confesses to Killing Mother & Sister With Pizza-Cutter

A 16-year-old boy, who was apprehended on 8 December on allegations of having murdered his mother and sister in Greater Noida, has allegedly confessed to the crime.

Recounting the version of the chilling crime as told by the boy in the presence of his family members, Senior Superintendent of Noida Police Luv Kumar said, the boy hit his mother's head and face with a cricket bat repeatedly, and later used a pair of scissors and a pizza cutter to attack her, which caused her death.

The boy changed his bloodstained clothes, and left them on the spot, stuffed his bag with whatever cash was available at home and left. CCTV footage showed the boy take the lift, along with his mother and sister, with food packets, on Monday night at 8.19 pm. The footage also captured his exit from the apartment at 11.23 pm, walking past the security guard.

4. Elderly Woman, Grand-Daughter Hacked to Death in Odisha's Berhampur

A 70-year-old woman and her four-year-old grand-daughter were hacked to death allegedly by their neighbour at Badi Ambagaon village in Ganjam district of Odisha on Sunday, police said.

The accused, Ranjan Sethi (35), has been arrested and a sharp weapon used in the crime also seized, said inspector in-charge of Hinjili police station, Prasant Kumar Sahoo.

Previous enmity, coupled with the mental condition of the accused, might be the cause of the killing, according to preliminary inquiry by police. The woman and her grand-daughter succumbed to injuries during treatment.

"We have registered a murder case and started an inquiry into the incident," Sahoo added.

5. Rs 3 Lakh Cash Stolen From ATM in Coimbatore

An ATM of a private bank on Sunday was found broken and about Rs 3 lakh cash stolen, police said. The theft at the ATM of the IndusInd Bank at Vilankurichi Road came to light when a truck driver visited it to withdraw cash at around 3.30 am and alerted the police and bank officials.

The CCTV camera in the ATM was also found damaged, police said, adding that a gas cutter had been used to open the machine. The heist was suspected to have been committed between 1.30 am, when the last transaction was recorded, and 3.30 am, police said.

It was not known how many persons were involved in the crime and investigations are on, police added.

6. Body of Six-Year-Old Rape Victim Cremated in Hisar

A six-year-old girl, who was raped and killed in Haryana's Uklana area, was cremated on Sunday amid tight security, as the agitated locals protested over the gruesome crime.

Some unidentified men had allegedly abducted the girl on Friday night when she was sleeping with her sister and mother in their home in a slum area. The men then raped and killed her, the police said.

The doctors of Civil Hospital who conducted the post- mortem examination said that the accused inserted a wooden stick into the girl's private parts, which ruptured her intestine.

A case under various Sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) including murder, rape, kidnapping, besides, under the provisions of the POCSO Act has been registered. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has also been formed to probe the incident. However, no arrest has been made in the case, said a police spokesman.

The police is checking CCTV footage of the area to gather clues, he said.

7. Minor Cancer Survivor Gang-Raped in Lucknow

In a shocking incident, a 15-year- old cancer survivor was allegedly raped by two men in Lucknow’s Sarojini nagar and was later sexually assaulted by another person whom she asked for help, police said on Sunday.

The incident took place last night when the girl had gone out to meet an acquaintance, Additional Superintendent of Police (Lucknow East) Sarvesh Mishra said.

The survivor alleged that her acquaintance, Shubham, took her to a secluded place where he and his friend, Sumit, raped her and fled from the spot, the police said, adding when she sought help from a passerby, Virendra, he also raped her.

A case of gang-rape has been registered under relevant section of IPC and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO), police said, adding Sumit and Virendra have been arrested.

A hunt was on to apprehend Shubham, the Additional SP said.

8. Youth Accused of Killing Mom, Raping Child Remanded in Chennai

A 22-year old man, nabbed from Mumbai on the charge of killing his mother recently and raping and murdering a seven-year-old girl early this year, was brought here and remanded to judicial custody on Sunday.

Dashwanth was produced before a magistrate who remanded him to judicial custody. He was later lodged in the Puzhal Central Prison, police said. A Tamil Nadu police special team brought the accused here from Mumbai on Saturday night.

He was first arrested in February this year for the alleged rape and murder of a seven year old girl and granted bail in September. On 2 December, he allegedly killed his mother Sarala and escaped with her jewellery.

He was arrested on 6 December in Mumbai but escaped from police custody the very next day. Dashwant was nabbed again in a joint operation with the Maharashtra police on 8 December.

9. Meghalaya Student's Family Wants Murder Case to Be Shifted

Family members of a Meghalaya student, Ashish, who was killed in Phagwara on Thursday night, have demanded the transfer of the case to their home state so that they could pursue it and bring the culprits to book.

Ashish, a B Tech (mechanical) final year student of a private university was attacked and killed when he, along with his friends, was celebrating the birthday of a friend.

Aman Kumar of Dori Ganj, Chappra, Bihar, a student of B Tech (Civil) final year in the same varsity, was injured in the attack, police had said. Police arrested two brothers, Ashok Kumar and Rahul, in this regard.

The victims were allegedly attacked after some persons objected to noise emanating from their accommodation where they were celebrating the birthday.
