1. Minor Girl Gang-raped by 3 Minors in Uttarakhand

A minor girl was gang-raped allegedly by three minor boys at Bhurani village in US Nagar district on Saturday, police said on Sunday.

The accused were apprehended under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.

The girl, a class 7 student, went to buy some household items from nearby shop on Saturday.

When she was returning, a boy of same village took her into a remote area, where he and his two accomplices allegedly raped her in turns.

2. ‘Beaten Up, Genitals Tied With String’: Two Boys Complain of Ragging in Maharashtra School

The 42-year-old director of a vedic school in Maharashtra’s Parbhani district was arrested and two juvenile students were detained for the alleged assault and ragging of two other minor students, police said on Sunday.

The victims, in the age group of 9 to 10 years, were allegedly ragged and their private parts tied with ‘manja’ (string) by the accused, Parbhani’s deputy superintendent of police Sanjay Pardeshi said.

The incident occurred at the Ganesh Ved Pathshala, located on Basmat Road in Parbhani, 500 km from Mumbai, between 26 August and 12 September, and it came to light last Wednesday when parents of the two victims complained to the police about it, he said.

2. Caretaker’s Son Held in Madhya Pradesh Shelter Abuse Case

Police on Sunday arrested the 19-year-old son of a caretaker of an orphanage near Bhopal for the alleged sexual abuse of several speech-and-hearing impaired inmates.

With Abhishek Mishra, the total number of arrests is now five. MP Awasthi, the 70-year-old director of the orphanage, Abhishek’s parents Meeta and Vijay, and one Rakesh Chaudhary were earlier arrested by the police. Police are now looking for another woman caretaker.

Meeta, a caretaker, allowed her husband, son and Chaudhary, a teacher in a school in Bairagarh, to visit the orphanage. Her husband often used to stay in a room inside the orphanage.

4. Haryana Police Arrest One of the Three Main Accused in CBSE Topper Gang-rape Case

The Haryana Police on Sunday arrested one of the three people accused of raping a 20-year-old Rewari woman, nearly four days after the crime that triggered outrage across the country and prompted support for the woman who was once a CBSE school topper. A special investigation team probing the case also arrested two accomplices, even as they continued to hunt for two other accused.

The three men, among them an army man, allegedly raped the woman in Haryana’s Mahendragarh on 12 September. In her complaint, the woman said two men named Pankaj and Manish drugged her and took her near a well, where they raped her. The woman said she spotted the third accused, Nishu, after regaining consciousness.

5. Great Truck Robbery: Thieves Target Vehicles on Move

In a method straight out of the movies, a group of highway thieves in Karnataka has been robbing trucks on Bengaluru-Hubballi-Goa route (NH-48) by employing a set of daring manoeuvres.

On Friday night, five trucks loaded with e-commerce online sale products such as smartphones, laptops and other gadgets — bolt-sealed in containers — were cut open, broken into and robbed while the trucks were on the move to different destinations from Bengaluru.

All the five trucks, plying for STC Logistics Pvt Ltd, are stranded at different locations with drivers finding it difficult to lodge complaints as the police are confused over jurisdiction, claiming that the crimes happened on the move.

6. Bihar Doctor Beaten up for Trying to Molest Trainee Nurse

Trainee Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs) beat up a doctor at a hospital in Bihar’s Katihar district for allegedly trying to molest a trainee nurse on Saturday. The incident came to light on Sunday after a video went viral, showing the midwives protesting against the eye specialist’s misdemeanor and some of them beating him up with slippers.

The incident took place when a training session was going on for the ANMs. A trainee told her colleagues that the doctor “tried to eve-tease” her, following which the ANMs reported the matter to the hospital’s civil surgeon, who summoned the doctor.

However, when the accused doctor was trying to put forward his version of the incident to the civil surgeon, the ANMs started demanding immediate action against him, accusing him of molestation.

7. Three Held for Diverting Food Meant for the Poor

The Special Task Force (STF) on Sunday arrested three persons for their alleged involvement in large-scale misuse of Aadhaar to divert grains meant for the poor through the Public Distribution Service (PDS) system.

Those arrested were identified as Lucknow ration shop owner Mohammad Amir Khan, his brother Mohammad Altamash and Mainpuri resident Pushpendra Pal. In August, the food and civil supplies department had registered 22 FIRs after an inquiry exposed the alleged fraud. The FIRs were lodged against fair price shop owners and others allegedly involved in replacing Aadhaar numbers of beneficiaries with those of impostors to divert ration, in eight districts.

8. Three Arrested in Assam for Alleged Links With Hizbul Mujahideen Terrorist

Three people with alleged links to Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Qamar-uz-Zama have been arrested by the Assam police, a senior officer said on Sunday, 16 September. Qamar-uz-Zama was already by the Uttar Pradesh's police.

The three accused are being interrogated, Director General of Police Kuladhar Saikia told reporters.

The three, identified as Shahnawaz Alam, Saidul Alam and Omar Faruk, were arrested from Hojai, Udali and Byrnihat, along the Assam-Meghalaya border, on Friday and Saturday, he said.

"The three persons had regular interaction with Zama and we are investigating the information provided by them (to him)," Mr Saikia said.

9. 24-Year-Old Woman Accuses Husband of Raping, Assaulting Her

A 24-year-old woman has accused her husband of raping her during and after their honeymoon in Goa between March and September. She has also accused her in-laws of pressing her to get a Fortuner car from her father as dowry.

The woman’s 31-year-old husband, his sister and their father have been booked under sections 498 (A) (subjecting a woman to cruelty), 377 (unnatural sex), 376 (rape), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (provocation) and other relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.

10. Four-Year-Old Sexually Abused in School Washroom by Supervisor Who Lured Her With Chocolate

A 29-year-old man in Hyderabad has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a four-and-half-year-old student of a private school in Tolichowki, police said on Sunday.

Mohammed Geelani, who works as Supervisor at the school, offered the minor girl a chocolate on 14 September and took her to a bathroom on the premises and sexually assaulted her, they said.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (West Zone) AR Srinivas said the victim had informed her parents about pain in her private parts following which the mother found that the girl was bleeding from her private parts.

The girl further told her mother that one Geelani had "sexually assaulted" her, the official said adding the girl was immediately shifted to a hospital.
