1. Man Beaten to Death After Intervening in Spat over Dog Poop

A 24-year-old was beaten to death and two others injured after they intervened in a fight between two families over dog poop in Saharanpur.

Deepak Paswan was declared brought dead in hospital while his parents, Hariom and Saro Paswan, were injured.

“We received information that a man was beaten to death with sticks by a family in Damodar Puri around 4.30 pm. During investigation we found that the accused were having an argument with another neighbour over dog poop outside their house. The victim’s family was staying adjacent and they intervened in the matter and asked everyone to calm down. An argument took place, which escalated and the intervening family was attacked. Arrest will take place soon,” said Vineet Bhatnagar, SP City Saharanpur.

2. Snatchers Target 3 Journalists in Separate Incidents

Three journalists were targeted by snatchers in separate incidents in southeast and southwest Delhi between Saturday night and Monday morning. Two of them lost their phones while travelling in an auto-rickshaw and the third alleged that her phone was snatched while covering the PM’s road show at Palam.

In the past 10 days, a spate of snatching incidents have been reported in Delhi. HT reported on Monday that Delhi Police have been registering several cases of snatching as simple theft, in a practice that experts said may explain the Capital’s declining street crime numbers at a time when anecdotal accounts suggest it is one of the biggest problems plaguing the city.

3. Hoax Bomb Scare at School in Gole Market

Security personnel in New Delhi district were on alert Thursday after a teacher at Kendriya Vidyalaya in Gole Market received a bomb threat on his phone — which later turned out to be fake.

Police teams rushed to the spot and evacuated students from the school, where the second shift was going on.

In his complaint, the principal of KVGM, Praveen Kumar Malik, Thursday claimed that an unknown person had sent a message to their physical education teacher, warning of a serial blast in the school.

4. 3-Year-Old Girl Dies After Police Van Runs over Her in Pune’s Uttamnagar

A three-and-half-year-old girl was killed after a police van ran over her on Wednesday evening.

“At 5:30pm-5:45pm, the hawaldar had gone home for tea in Uttamnagar. The girl was playing near the police van and he did not notice her presence when he came out and started the van. As he moved the vehicle, the girl screamed and that’s how he realised that she was present under the van,” said police inspector (crime) Satish Dahale of Uttamnagar police station.

The girl, identified as Divya Chavan, is a resident of Uttamnagar, where the driver of the police van also lives. The driver was identified as Hawaldar Tandale, according to PI Dahale.

5. Woman’s Body Found in Sack, Police Identify Her as Missing Student

Days after the body of a woman was found inside a sack in North East Delhi, police Thursday identified the victim as a 22-year-old student who went missing from the district on September 25.

Police said the victim completed her graduation from Delhi and was pursuing her Masters from a Haryana-based university.

“On September 25, she left her house after telling her parents that she was going to meet her former tutor. She has been missing since. Family members tried to contact her but her phone was switched off. They later lodged an FIR with the Delhi Police,” a senior police officer said.

6. Insurance Scam Kingpin, Who Duped 200 People of over ₹4 Cr, Held

The Faridabad police, late Wednesday night, arrested a 34-year-old history sheeter for allegedly duping more than 200 people in eight states in the last one year. The suspect, identified as Gaurav Chauhan of Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh, allegedly duped people by offering them high returns on fake insurance policies after winning their confidence, the police said.

Faridabad commissioner of police KK Rao said Chauhan used to cold call on numbers picked up from database providers in Delhi. He would allegedly introduce himself as an agent of the Life Insurance Corporation (LIC). “He used to offer people fake insurance policies with high returns. People would fall for the offers and deposit money in the bank account numbers shared by him,” Rao said

7. Domestic Help Among Three Held for Burglary

Three persons, including a woman, have been arrested in connection with a burglary at a house in South East Delhi’s Amar Colony. According to police, Fatima (34), who works as a domestic help, did a recce of vacant houses in the area and passed the information to Mahmood (37) and Zakir (35).

A senior police officer said: “On September 29, a resident of Lajpat Nagar found Rs 50 lakh and some jewellery missing when he returned home in the evening. A case of theft and house-trespass was registered.”

8. Burail Murder: Bishnoi Arranged Assailants’ Stay at Hotel

A 28-year-old hotelier has confessed to have helped the assailants, who murdered Sonu Shah, on the directions of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, currently lodged in the Jodhpur jail, police said on Thursday.

Dharminder Singh, a native of Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh, owns and manages DK Palace hotel in Burail village where Shah, a property dealer, was shot dead on September 28.

Crime branch officials arrested Dharminder from Khudda Lahora on Wednesday night. Currently living in Nayagoan, Dharminder was arrested with an illegal countrymade pistol and seven live cartridges. A history sheeter, he is already facing cases of murder, rioting and causing hurt, registered at the Sector 34 and 36 police stations, respectively.

9. Car Crushes 4-Year-Old To Death In Maharashtra's Thane, Driver Arrested

A four-year-old boy was crushed to death by a car in Maharashtra's Thane on Thursday evening, police said.

The driver of the vehicle, Parmeshwar Deshmane, was arrested following the incident, they said.

"The boy, Soham Nikam, was crushed to death near a bridge in Vartak Nagar. An irate mob damaged the vehicle after the incident," a police officer said.
