1. Thirty-Year-Old Killed For Rs 1500 in North West Delhi

A 30-year-old man was stabbed in front of his parents at their house in northwest Delhi’s Bharat Nagar late on Sunday night, 3 June. The victim’s cousin and his parents were also attacked. Cops said the victim was targeted for asking for payment for his and his cousin’s work, and have arrested the two employers.

Police said that the matter was reported around 12.30am, when a PCR call was made by a local. A team rushed to the spot and took the victims to a hospital. The victim, Deepak, was declared brought dead whereas the others were treated and discharged later.

2. Guard Thrashed by Property Dealer for Objecting to Drinking

A 56-year-old guard was thrashed with a wooden stick by a property dealer when he stopped the latter from drinking inside the market complex of Parsvnath Majestic Floors in Indirapuram on Sunday night, 3 June.

Around 11.30pm, when the guard,Virendra Singh, asked the 22-year-old property dealer, Vijay, to leave the society premises, he started asking him to hand over the keys of his two-wheeler. When Singh refused, Vijay attempted to start a fight, but the guard again asked him to leave. After this, Vijay brutally attacked Singh.

Singh sustained several blows on his head, hands and legs in the attack. Soon, Vijay’s colleagues and staff from the society’s maintenance agency came to his rescue.

3. Indore SP Locked in Room and Robbed

In a shocking incident, four persons broke into the government quarters of superintendent of police Sunil Rajore late on Saturday, 2 June, and robbed the house by locking the SP inside his room.

SP Radio Sunil Rajore said that two miscreants barged into the house by cutting the wire mesh on the window and opening the lock of the rear gate of the house around 2:00 am.

They stayed inside the house for over an hour before police officials arrived and arrested one of the accused who was trying to flee the spot.

4. West Bengal: Shop Owner Shot Dead Over Plate of Biryani

Demanding the price for a plate of biryani proved fatal for an eatery owner in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district, police said on Monday, 4 June.

Sanjay Mondal was allegedly shot dead on Sunday evening for asking Rs 190 for the plate of biryani from four customers. Police said they have arrested one person and search for other co-accused is on.

"The tussle started over a plate of Biryani and one of the customers shot Sanjay Mondal. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. An FIR was lodged and we have arrested accused Mohammad Firoz," the police said.

5. Actor Armaan Kohli Booked for Assaulting Live-in Partner

The Santacruz police on Sunday night registered a case against actor-producer Armaan Kohli for allegedly hitting his live-in partner Neeru Randhawa. According to police, the 46-year-old has been accused by his live-in partner, a model, of beating her up after an argument broke out between the two.

“We have registered a case after the woman gave us a statement on Sunday night. There was an argument between the two over some monetary issue after which the complainant claims the actor assaulted her,” said an officer.

Police on Sunday night received an EPR call from a hospital. After police reached the hospital, they saw Neeru receiving treatment for her injuries.

6. Four Booked for Stripping Student in Kolkata College

The Kolkata Police on Monday registered an FIR against three students and a temporary non-teaching staff of the 153-year-old St Paul’s Cathedral Mission College for stripping a second-year student in the college last month after he asked the accused to submit expenditure of the students’ union they headed.

The accused also shot the scene on their phones and circulated it. It shows the student crouching on the floor in embarrassment. The incident took place in the evening of 17 May at the union room of the college adjacent to the principal’s office.

7. Sixty-Five-Year-Old Cleaner Asleep Under Truck Dies After Driver Runs Over Him in Mumbai

A 65-year-old man sleeping under a parked truck in Chembur died after the driver started the vehicle and ran over him. The incident came to light only on Sunday evening, 1 June, when some local residents discovered him lying unconscious.

The RCF police, who were contacted by residents and took the victim to hospital, have registered a case against an unidentified truck driver and are investigating the matter.

The incident took place some time between 8pm on Saturday and 6pm on Sunday near LU Gadkari Marg, near Datta mandir, the police said.

8. Jharkhand: No Ration Card, No Food, Woman ‘Starves’ to Death

A day after the alleged starvation death of a 58-year-old woman in Jharkhand’s Giridih district, an official team that visited her home found no food in the house. A probe has been ordered into why Savitri Devi, a resident of Mangargaddi village in Dumri block, did not have a ration card and whether she had formally applied for one.

Savitri Devi died sometime on Saturday, 2 June, after reportedly being without food for three days. She lived with her two daughters-in-law and four grandchildren, all surviving on the little money sent by her elder son, working in a private company in Maharashtra.

The information of the death reached the administration on Sunday after Savitri Devi’s younger son, Hulas Mahato, reached home. Her husband died in 2010.

9. Labourer From Jharkhand Sodomised, Killed

The body of a 23-year-old labourer was found at a construction site in Lower Parel on Friday night, 1 June. The NM Joshi Marg police said the deceased, who had been identified as Jesrial Marhandi from Jharkhand, appeared to have been sodomised and murdered. The Crime Branch will conduct a parallel probe.

Marhandi was employed at the construction site three months ago.

Senior police inspector Ahmed Pathan from NM Joshi Marg police station said, “Around 1pm on Friday, we were informed that a body had been found at the construction site in Lower Parel. After we went to the spot, we found that the body was naked.”
