Gauhar Raza, an Urdu poet and scientist with the government of India has been the latest in a series of people to be labelled ‘anti-national’ by Zee News. According to the channel, Raza is part of an “Afzal-Premi Gang” that stretches, according to the channel, from Kashmir to Delhi.

Gauhar Raza spoke to The Quint about the baseless accusation and its dangers.

Zee News targeted Raza unpardonably, using language that violates the rules of responsible journalism. Referring to those who participated in the Mushaira as the ‘Afzal-Premi Gang,’ Zee News dissected Raza’s poem and lambasted him for offering his support to the students of JNU.
