IISc Tops HRD Ministry List of Best Universities, JNU Comes Second

These are the top ten Indian universities of 2018.

The Ministry of Human Resource Development released its list of top colleges, universities and educational institutions of the country, with the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, securing the number one spot followed by Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru University.

Other names that figured in the list published by the National Institutional Ranking Framework are Savitribai Phule University in Pune and University of Hyderabad.

The institutes were ranked on the basis of five parameters, NDTV reported. They are: teaching, learning and resources, graduation outcomes, research and professional practices, perception, and outreach and inclusivity.

These are the top ten Indian universities of 2018:

  1. Indian Institute of Science
  2. Jawaharlal Nehru University
  3. Banaras Hindu University
  4. Anna University
  5. University of Hyderabad
  6. Jadavpur University
  7. University of Delhi
  8. Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham
  9. Savitribai Phule Pune University
  10. Aligarh Muslim University

Aligarh Muslim University, Banaras Hindu University in List Too

Banaras Hindu University (BHU) was adjudged the third best institute of the country, while Aligarh Muslim University was ranked at number 10.

Announcing the rankings at an event at the Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi on Tuesday. 3 April, HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar said the Indian Institute of Technology-Madras (IIT-M) has been adjudged the best engineering college and the Indian Institute of Management-Ahmedabad (IIM-A) the best management institute.

AIIMS Best Medical College, NLSIU Best Law School

According to the national institutional ranking framework, premier healthcare institute AIIMS was the best medical college and NLSIU-Bengaluru the best law school in the country.
