CRPF Targeted in Pulwama: JeM Claims Local Man Carried Out Attack

More than 70 vehicles, carrying 2,547 CRPF personnel, were part of the convoy moving from Jammu to Srinagar.

Within a couple of hours of an explosive-laden vehicle detonating and destroying a bus carrying CRPF jawans in south Kashmir’s Pulwama on Thursday, 14 February, Jaish-e-Muhammed (JeM), a Pakistan-based terrorist group, claimed responsibility for the attack.

As many as 37 CRPF personnel have been martyred in the blast, and the casualties are feared to rise. Gunshots were reported after the blast.

The terrorist group claimed responsibility in a text message to Kashmiri News Agency GNS, and through its Telegram and WhatsApp channels.

JeM Claims Local Man Carried Out Attack

JeM claimed a local man was involved in carrying out the attack. He was identified as one Adil Ahmad Dar, alias Waqas Commando, from Gundibagh, Kakapora in Pulwama. He purportedly joined the JeM in 2018.

More than 70 vehicles, carrying 2,547 CRPF personnel, were part of the convoy moving from Jammu to Srinagar.

The convoy was attacked on the Srinagar-Jammu highway in the Awantipora area of the Pulwama district.
