Mumbai’s Leopold Cafe is popular among tourists and locals alike. The restaurant caters to a diverse clientele; people from all over the world flock to Leopold. Understandably, there is often an extended waiting time.
However, Pooja Basu, her mother, and her friend were in for a rather unpleasant surprise. While the restaurant made them wait their turn, a large group of foreigners was promptly accommodated, despite showing up later than the trio. Pooja and her companions knew better than to expect any different; it is no secret that we treat white-skinned foreigners much better than we treat our own people.
That wasn’t all. An “impertinent gentleman” went on to ask Pooja why they felt so inferior when they protested against Leopold Cafe’s rank injustice.
Naturally, Leopold’s behaviour didn’t go down well.
When contacted, Leopold Cafe said it will issue a statement tomorrow morning.
