Hundreds in Gujarat’s Vadodara bid farewell to Army rifleman, Mohammad Arif Shafi Alam Khan Pathan, who succumbed to injuries sustained in firing by the Pakistan Army in Jammu and Kashmir.
Pathan was injured when the Pakistan Army resorted to unprovoked firing at forward posts along the border in the Seunderbani sector in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday morning, 22 July.
Pathan was later air evacuated to the Army Hospital, where he succumbed.
His body arrived at Vadodara Airport on Tuesday at around 8:50 pm on an IndiGo flight, where several senior Army officers were present, an official said.
A guard of honour was presented to the martyred soldier and wreaths were placed on his body, he said.
Pathan, a native of Navayard, is survived by his father and mother.
