Hot and Humid Day in Delhi, Dusty Winds Likely Overnight

The ‘sky obscured’ conditions are a result of typical “pre-monsoon” activity from winds flowing from West Rajasthan.

Hot and humid conditions continued to prevail in the national capital on 12 June with the mercury settling at 41.7 degrees Celsius, even as the weatherman predicted dusty winds towards the night, PTI reported.

"The maximum temperature was recorded at 41.7 degrees Celsius, two notches above normal, while the minimum temperature settled at 30.5 degrees Celsius, three notches above normal," a MeT official told PTI.

The humidity levels oscillated between 58 and 36 percent.

According to Skyment Weather, the West Rajasthan region along with neighbouring Pakistan have been witnessing heatwave conditions as temperatures are running about three to five degrees above normal levels.

Owing to this, westerly winds pushed dust into the atmosphere at a particular height are being advected over Eastern part of Rajasthan, Haryana as well as Delhi-NCR region, the Weather report cited.

The weather news agency described these 'sky obscured’ conditions as typical “pre-monsoon” activity on account of dry and hot weather conditions prevailing across West Rajasthan.
