A major fire that had broken out at Shimla’s hotel Grand Heritage building in the early hours of Monday, 13 May, was doused with no casualties or injuries reported, according to an ANI report.

Rajeshwar Goel, DC, Shimla said that renovation work was underway in the building.
“We got the information around 1:07 am through DDMA (District Disaster Management Authority) and the police. The fire is mostly under control.”Rajeshwar Goel, DC, Shimla to ANI
Pankaj Rai, Commissioner, Shimla Municipal Corporation, said that the reason behind the fire cannot be figured out immediately and an inquiry into the incident will take place.
“This is a heritage building. The reason behind the fire is hard to find right now. We will take the decision on how the inquiry will take place.”Pankaj Rai, Commissioner, Shimla Municipal Corporation to ANI.
