District authorities today celebrated the birth of around 50 girls, born in the past six months at Danewala village, Haryana to create awareness about bettering the child sex ratio.
To mark the occasion, mothers of these girls were honoured with appreciation certificates.
Danewala village has the lowest sex ratio in the district with 559 girls as against 1,000 boys.
We have decided to celebrate the birthdays of girl children in the villages every month.
— Jaskaran Singh, Deputy Commissioner
He added ‘Nari chaupal’ programmes will also be organised where women will be told about their legal rights.
