Asserting its dominance in the Indian Ocean, the Indian Navy sent out a stern message to China in an unusual way — by putting out two quirky tweets.
In the first tweet, the Indian Navy welcomed China's People's Liberation Army’s (PLA’s) anti-piracy vessels in the Indian Ocean by greeting them with “Happy Hunting.”
The better part comes in the second tweet, in which the navy subtly hints at who’s the boss of the Indian Ocean.
“From Persian Gulf to Malacca Straits & from Northern Bay of Bengal to Southern Indian Ocean to East coast of Africa @indiannavy with 50 ships on vigil 24X7 keep our Area of Responsibility (AOR) safe. Anytime, Anywhere Everytime,” the tweet read.
Twitter might be banned in China, but its navy is bound to take notice of these tweets.
The region mentioned by the navy on the micro-blogging site have some of the vital Sea Lanes of Communication (SLOCs), which are of strategic interest to India.
China, too, has deployed its ships in the Indian Ocean to carry out anti-piracy operations. It has a naval base in Djibouti and is building the Gwadar port in Pakistan, strategically situated at the mouth of the Persian Gulf.
