On a day that 1993 Bombay Blasts convict, Yakub Memon, was hanged, Maya Kodnani, a Gujarat riots accused and former cabinet colleague of the then Chief Minister Narendra Modi, was granted bail by Gujarat High Court today.

This development takes place just days after Babu Bajrangi was granted extension to his month long bail.

A special trial court had on August 30, 2012 awarded life imprisonment to Kodnani, Bajrang Dal leader Babu Bajrangi and 29 others for killings and hatching a criminal conspiracy.

Maya Kodnani is a former state minister of Women and Child development of Gujarat and was accused of involvement in the 2002 Naroda Patiya riots.
