On Monday, 16 April, 30-year-old Suman Devi was travelling with her husband Hari Om to Gorakhpur for her delivery on the Jan Nayak express in Uttar Pradesh, reported ANI.
However, Suman went into labour in the moving train. Her condition became severe by the time the train reached Sitapur. Hari Om approached the officials of the Government Railway Police (GRP) at Sitapur for help.
The GRP officials called a doctor, who converted the coach into a makeshift maternity ward with the help of a woman constable and a few women passengers and Suman gave birth to a healthy baby boy.
An ambulance was arranged in the meantime and Suman and the baby were taken to Sitapur district hospital for further care
According to NDTV, the train was delayed by an hour.
On 27 March, another woman gave birth to a girl in the Akal Takht Superfast train while travelling to Ludhiana with her husband, reported NDTV.
When the train reached near Roorkee, the woman went into labour and delivered the baby with the help of some female passengers.
The woman was moved to a civil hospital after the train reached Ambala.
