Apart from being a sub-inspector in Haryana Police, Anita Kundu has been scaling new heights, literally, by becoming the first Indian woman to climb Mount Everest from China’s side.

A Hindustan Times report said that Kundu, a Hisar resident, began her expedition on 11 April, but soon lost contact while climbing. On 20 April, it was communicated that she was some 1,100 metres away from the peak and the next day, she hoisted the Indian flag.
