The government’s strategy in Kashmir has proved effective, said Army Chief General Bipin Rawat on Wednesday, 25 October, adding that the former were operating from a position of strength.

The government strategy on Kashmir has worked, we are negotiating from a point of strength. The situation has improved and infiltration has come down.

On the Appointment of Dineshwar Sharma

On being asked about his response to the appointment of Dineshwar Sharma, the former Intelligence Bureau Chief, as J&K’s interlocutor, he said that he didn’t believe it would affect the army’s operations in any way.

The Army Chief also told ANI that efforts were being made to look into the Electronic Warfare (EW) system, for the monitoring of the hinterland as well as the border. He stated that the Army’s greatest requirements were intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, in order to keep track of the adversaries on the northern and western borders.
