Madhya Pradesh’s Neemuch town witnessed two separate incidents of a mob attack on Friday, 19 July. In the first, an elderly man was lynched to death and another person was injured on suspicion of peacock theft.
Local villagers intercepted the victims on the road and beat them up. A viral video of the incident shows dead peacocks being thrown around the elderly victim as he breathes his last.
According to report by News18, a case has been registered under the relevant sections of the IPC. The police have arrested nine accused so far and filed murder charges against them.
In a separate incident on the same day, three people were attacked for allegedly stealing goats in Neemuch, reported ANI.
Locals thrashed three people, who were said to be on the run after allegedly stealing a goat, near the town’s Bhadwa Mata road.
Their bikes were also set on fire by the unruly mob later on.
“FIR has been registered against people for thrashing them and four to five people have been rounded up,” a police officer told ANI.
The incidents come a day after a man was lynched by a mob in Bihar's Chhapra on suspicion of cattle theft.
