India is home to 101 billionaires, the fourth-highest in the world, with Reliance Industries chief Mukesh Ambani leading the club, according to India Rich List 2017 by Forbes. It is interesting to note that Ambani has held the top spot for ten years and has added a staggering $15.3 billion to his net worth in 2017. He, now, is also among Asia’s 5 richest.
This year the minimum net worth to make the cut to the top 100 rose to $1.46 billion as opposed to $1.25 billion last year. Nusli Wadia, Rana Kapoor and Vijay Shekhar Sharma, who is the founder of Paytm, are the new entrants in the billionaires club.
The combined wealth of India’s 100 richest billionaires rose more than a fourth to $479 billion in 2017 whereas the cumulative wealth of the top ten richest Indians in the world is $171.4 billion.
The Forbes’ list of top 100 Indian billionaires however features only three women represented by Savitri Jindal, Leena Tewari and Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw.
Savitri Jindal is at the sixteenth spot with a net worth of $ 7.5 billion. Shaw stands 72nd in the list of Forbes richest Indians with a net worth of $ 2.16 billion and Tewari boasts of a net worth of $ 2.19 billion.

1. Mukesh Ambani
Chairman, managing director and largest shareholder of Reliance Industries, Mukesh Ambani has a net worth of $38 billion.
2. Azim Premji
Investor, philanthropist and chairman of Wipro Limited, Azim Premji has a net worth of $19 billion.
3. Hinduja Brothers
UK-based Hinduja Brothers are at the fourth spot in the India Rich List 2017 with a collective net worth of $18.4 billion.
4. Lakshmi Mittal
Steel magnate and chairman and CEO of ArcelorMittal, the world’s largest steelmaking company Lakshmi Mittal has a net worth of $16.5 billion.
5. Pallonji Mistry
Chairman of Shapoorji Pallonji Group, Pallonji Mistry has a net worth of $16 billion.
6. Godrej Family
Chairman of the Godrej Group Adi Godrej is at the sixth spot with a net worth of $14.2 billion.
7. Shiv Nadar
Founder and chairman of HCL and the Shiv Nadar Foundation, Shiv Nadar boasts of a net worth of $13.6 billion.
8. Kumar Mangalam Birla
Chairman of the Aditya Birla Group, one of the largest conglomerate corporations in India and also the chancellor of the Birla Institute of Technology & Science, Kumar Mangalam Birla has a net worth of $12.6 billion.
9. Dilip Shanghvi
Sun Pharmaceuticals’ Dilip Shanghvi is at the ninth spot with a net worth of $12.1 billion.
10. Gautam Adani
Gautam Adani, chairman and founder of Adani Group, has a net worth of $11 billion and is at the tenth spot in the India Rich List 2017.
