Cochin International airport limited (CIAL) is all set to become the first airport in the country which will be operating on solar power, according to a CIAL official.
Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will inaugurate CIAL’s green initiative – a 12MWp solar power project set up on the premises of the airport on August 18, Airport Managing Director V J Kurien said.
After commissioning, this installation is expected to generate around 48000 units per day, which along with the electricity generated from the existing 1.10 MWp plants, would be sufficient to meet the power requirement of the Airport.
