A 45-year-old farmer in Rajasthan allegedly killed himself by consuming pesticide and left a suicide note, blaming state Chief Minster Ashok Gehlot for not fulfilling promised loan waiver.

The farmer, Sohan Lal of Rajasthan's Raisinghnagar in Sriganganagar district, also alleged the same in a video uploaded on Facebook.

Sohan consumed celphos on 23 June and the next day, the body was handed over to family members following a post-mortem, police told news agency, ANI.

In the alleged suicide note examined by the news agency, the farmer wrote that Gehlot along with Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot are responsible for his death.

“I am going to end my life today. Gehlot and Sachin Pilot are responsible for my death. They had made a statement that they will waive our loans within 10 days... What has happened to their promise?” the letter said.

The two page letter further said that he took the extreme step on behalf of all farmer brothers.

Not a Defaulter and Was Paying His Dues Regularly

Meanwhile, the state police told ANI that the matter will be investigated as Sohan was not a regular loan defaulter.

"Action will be taken if it is proved that he took his life because he was under pressure from someone. He was not a defaulter and was paying his dues regularly," Sub Divisional Magistrate Sandeep Kakkar said.
