In a sting operation by ABP News, the lawyer of Harish Dulani – the driver who claimed to have witnessed Salman Khan allegedly hunting a blackbuck and a chinkara in Rajasthan during the shooting of Hum Saath Saath Hai in 1998 – said that Dulani had settled for a Rs 80 lakhs offer to change his statement.
Two days after the Rajasthan High Court acquitted Bollywood actor Salman Khan, in two pending cases related to the poaching of a Chinkara and a blackbuck, the sole witness of the incident – Harish Dulani – said his disappearance was owed to the threats he had received for his testimony.
Other than confessing his statement to the magistrate, Dulani had also attended two or three hearings in a lower court of Rajasthan but disappeared soon claiming that he and his family had been threatened.
In a sting operation led by ABP, Dulani’s lawyer Ashok Parihar claimed that Dulani had entered into the deal with Salman Khan’s lawyer – Hastimal Saraswat.
Dulani also bought two plots, Parihar said, according to ABP News.
The Quint cannot verify if such a deal had actually taken place between the two parties.
The Chief Judicial Magistrate had ruled against Salman despite Dulani’s absence, the Rajasthan HC sought Harish’s deposition before acquitting Salman. However, since the prosecution didn’t present him, the HC acquitted the actor.
