On a visit to poll-bound Karnataka, Congress President Rahul Gandhi on 24 March raked up the issue of the multi-thousand-crore Punjab National Bank (PNB) fraud and continued his diatribe against demonetisation and the Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime. He said these developments have massive damage to Indian economy and job creation.
Nirav Modi took Rs 22,000 crore of bank money. Can you imagine how many businesses could have been built by young women like you if we had given Rs 22,000 crore to you?Rahul Gandhi said
The Congress president talked about the dismal job creation scenario in the nation and cited the lack of access to finance and support since the problem is the “huge amount of money that goes to 15-20 people.”
He went on to say that our education system doesn’t effectively impart skills even when it teaches us “many other things.” It becomes a problem when companies come to hire candidates, he cited.
I think demonetisation was a mistake and should not have been done. Demonetisation and GST caused massive damage to the Indian economy and job creation. I have a problem with the way demonetisation was carried out. RBI governor, Chief Economic Advisor, Finance Minister, none of them knew of it. When I called Chidambaram, he called demonetisation insane.Rahul to students at Maharani’s Arts College for Women in Mysuru
This is his fourth visit to the poll-bound state since February. During the visit, the Congress chief will be holding public meetings and interacting with party cadres and people in Mandya and Chamrajnagar districts. He will also address a rally on Sunday.
