1. Freed Rape Convict Rapes, Kills Another Minor
Police on Tuesday arrested a person for killing a 12-year-old girl Ayesha (changed name) after raping her in Jaunpur district of Uttar Pradesh on 26 November.
Pappu Gupta had recently been released from jail after 10 years' imprisonment for raping a seven-year-old girl in 2004. During interrogation, he divulged that he murdered Ayesha to ensure that she is not giving evidence before court like his previous victim, which led to his conviction.
According to SSP Nitin Tiwari, on 27 November, a woman, Razia, lodged a named FIR against Pappu alleging that he had kidnapped her daughter.

2. DU Professor Kills Brother With Dumbbell
A 23-year-old man allegedly bludgeoned his 27-year-old brother to death using a dumbbell after the two had a fight over the latter’s girlfriend visiting their rented accommodation in north Delhi’s Burari. The incident was reported in the wee hours of Monday.
Hitesh Kumar Verma, a Sanskrit professor, had reportedly been living with his brother Himanshu, a DU student, in Delhi for the past two years. The brothers hail from Jhansi.
According to police, on Monday, at 1:30 am Hitesh called his girlfriend home and asked Himanshu to leave the house. Himanshu, however, refused saying that he had nowhere to go. An argument ensued and Verma allegedly threw a dumbbell at Himanshu and even punched him in the face. In retaliation, Himanshu picked up the same dumbbell and thrashed his brother with it. He repeatedly hit the dumbbell on his head and killed him.

3. Car-Lifter In Assam Confesses to 42 Murders
A court in Jorhat, Assam, has sent a car-lifter, who has confessed to having killed 42 people over the last two decades, in seven-day judicial custody.
Jorhat Superintendent of Police PK Bhuyan said that they would ascertain the veracity of Bubu Konwar’s claim when police get his custody. “The court has granted us two-day custody. Bubu Konwar was arrested from Dimapur on Sunday after tracking a Tata Sumo vehicle stolen from Pulibor in Jorhat two days ago,’’ he said.
Konwar had told some local news channels about the murders, including that of a doctor, a Congress leader and a Marwari businessman.

4. Lakhs In Old Rs 1,000 Notes Seized, 4 Held
Within a span of less than 12 hours, Gurgaon Police, in two separate incidents, arrested four people for carrying several lakhs in old Rs 1,000 notes between Monday and Tuesday. Police said that in both incidents, the currency seized “appears to be black money”.
In the first incident, police seized around Rs 15 lakh from Pramod Gupta, a resident of Subhash Nagar, at 9 pm on Monday. Police said Pramod had Rs 15 lakh in scrapped Rs 1,000 notes , “wrapped in white paper”.
Eight hours later, three men in a Mercedes were arrested near Sector 29 police station after a police team found Rs 35 lakh in scrapped Rs 1,000 notes in their car.
“All three accused are between 30 and 40 years of age, and are businessmen working in the IT sector,” said Vishal Kumar, Station House Officer (SHO), Sector 29 Police Station.

5. Bengaluru ATM Cash Heist: Van Driver Held
The van driver of a logistics agency, who had allegedly fled with Rs 1.37 crore cash collected from banks here, was on Tuesday apprehended, police said.
This comes a day after the driver's wife was arrested. “The driver, Dominic Roy, who had fled with the cash van, has been arrested by Upparpet Police this morning near the tin factory situated at KR Puram,” DCP West Anucheth said.
However, no cash has been recovered from him, he said. Yesterday, police had nabbed Evlin Roy, wife of the accused, and conducted interrogation.
When asked about the cash, Anucheth said investigation was on and it was suspected that the accused might have used some of the money to repay their loans.

6. Man Held For Duping 300 Hotels
The Delhi Police has arrested a Tamil Nadu resident, who has allegedly cheated at least 300 hotel owners so far by not settling dues and absconding after enjoying their hospitality for days. He has also been accused of stealing valuables from these plush hotels.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (south-west) Surender Kumar said the accused, 59-year-old Vincent John, would terminate his stay without informing the hotel authorities. He was arrested in some of these cases earlier. In fact, he was released from a jail in Kerala this October.

7. One Killed, Two Hurt After Shooting At Wedding
A man was killed and two others injured when a family feud broke out at a wedding ceremony at Loni's Razapur village late on Monday night. The prime accused Kallu has been arrested while efforts are on to arrest the others.
The victim, identified as Bhupender, was a resident of Razapur village, Ghaziabad. The two men who suffered injuries have been identified as Jogender and Kuldeep. An FIR was lodged at Loni police station against 10 people.
According to police, a wedding was being solemnised at Razapur and the family members, including the two warring groups were present. "One group was led by Bhupender while the other was led by one Kallu. The duo, who are related to each other, were inebriated and got into an argument at 11 pm," said Om Prakash, SHO of Loni police station.

8. Two More Bomb Blast Suspects Held by NIA
Furthering its probe into a series of blasts that took place in various court premises in the southern states of India, the National Investigation (NIA) arrested two more individuals on Tuesday afternoon. The number of arrested individuals now stands at five, with the probe agency claiming that the accused men belong to a new outfit which pledges allegiance to Al-Qaeda.
NIA spokesperson Alok Mittal on Tuesday said that Mohammed Ayub Ali, who had been detained on Monday night, was put under arrest along with another youth named Shamsudeen. Both are 25-years-old.

9. Two Arrested For Stabbing Youth To Death
Two men were arrested on Tuesday for their alleged involvement in the murder of an 18-year-old in west Delhi's Nihal Vihar.
Salauddin was stabbed 25 times on Saturday night when he allegedly asked one of the accused to share his girlfriend's number. Shamshad (20) and Sunil Pal (19), residents of Nihal Vihar, fled after the attack.
Monu, Salauddin's friend, said Pal had asked the victim to come to a DDA park. On reaching the park, they saw Pal and Shamshad sitting on a stone. A scuffle started after Salauddin asked Shamshad to share his girlfriend's number and Shamshad attacked him with a knife.
