Sanitation Worker Drowns While Cleaning Sewer In Delhi, 3 Arrested

Three people were arrested on Wednesday, 24 October, days after a sanitation worker died while cleaning a sewer in Delhi’s Jahangirpuri, news agency ANI reported.

"Project Manager Ashwini Kumar Jha, Site Supervisor Subodh and Safety Officer Shubham Notiyal have been arrested," news agency IANS quoted Deputy Commissioner of Police, Aslam Khan, as saying.

A case has been registered under section 304A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code, according to ANI.

On 21 October, a 32-year-old sanitation worker from Bihar, Dooman Ray, died by drowning while cleaning a sewer in Jahangirpuri, IANS reported.

Ray was rushed to Max Hospital in Shalimar Bagh where he was declared brought dead.
