After the Congress-JD(S) led government in Karnataka lost the trust vote in the Vidhana Soudha on Tuesday, 23 July, chief minister HD Kumaraswamy submitted his resignation to Governor Vajubhai Vala,. The resignation was later accepted by the governor, leading to the collapse of the Cong-JD(S) government.
The coalition got 99 votes against the BJP’s 105 in the floor test. Speaker KR Ramesh Kumar announced that the coalition government led by Kumaraswamy has lost the trust vote by six votes.
